Aperture is the opening, hole or gap often associated with photographic equipment that light may pass through.
The narrower the aperture, the larger depth of field, this means more of the areas in your photograph will be in focus. The wider the aperture, the shorter depth of field, this means more of the areas in your photograph will be blurred. To alter the aperture, you have to set the dial at the top of your camera to AV mode, which stands for Aperture Value Another term for a change in Aperture is called a stop.
