For this unit, it is vital that we explore a range of mediums within our chosen theme.
These are some of my experimental pieces that I created with the theme of Anthropomorphism and Stereotypes in mind.
First we have Collage:
In my collages I have used a variety of cutouts from magazines, washi tape and my own drawings. In each collage I personified each of the animals, making them do particular activities that humans would do that I thought suited their positions. I am not the most experienced with collage work, so it was quite a fun and different experience for me.

In this collage, we have what appeared to look like two polar bears dancing, so I took this to my advantage and decided to give them fancy ballroom attire.
I created this with a magazine cut-out, my own drawings and a piece of washi tape, which I think brings the whole piece together, sort of resembling an old Polaroid photograph that has been stuck into a family album. |
In this collage, we have a squirrel lying on his stomach, to which I thought, "He looks like a sniper".
So I created some drawings to stick on top of the little guy, and added some washi tape for added texture |
For this collage, I took two images. One is an advertisement revolving around these two figures running.
I had a think about animals that would chase each other in this fashion, and decided the lion chasing the zebra would be a perfect fit. I also drew in a little sweat band on the zebra for some added detail. In the second image, we have a kangaroo, whose positioned as if he were about to punch something. I decided to draw a punching bag, to make him look like he was doing some fitness boxing. I also added some washi tape for detailing, and to make it look more rough and scrapbook-like in appearance. |
This collage is quite different and silly compared to the rest, but I think it still has a tad of quirkiness to it.
I decided to add human eyes to this rather peculiar species of bird, to make that connection between animals and people. I wanted to experiment with a more abstract form of Anthropomorphism. |
