Cassius Marcellus Coolidge was born on the 18th of September in 1844 and he died on the 13th of January in 1934.
He was an American artist, predominately known for his series of paintings 'Dogs Playing Poker'. His pieces are most definitely iconic, as a lot of other artists have replicated his famous Dogs Playing Poker paintings. According to the advertising firm Brown and Bigelow, from the mid 1900s to the mid 1910s, Cassius created a series of sixteen oil paintings, including nine paintings of Dogs Playing Poker. I am in love with these pieces, I think that they really tell a story and the amount of emotion he can give each of the dogs is remarkable. I cannot imagine how long it would have taken him to produce such beautiful images. |
